How do I design a poster motif?
The relatives and descendants of the prisoners held at Neuengamme Concentration Camp are invited to design a poster motif about their persecuted family member. The finished posters will then be printed, presented, and distributed.
It is entirely up to you how you wish to honour the memory of your family member detained at Neuengamme Concentration Camp. Perhaps you would like to use your poster to depict and pay tribute to your family member by telling the public about their life and/or how they were persecuted. In many families, the history of persecution – and often the way society has addressed the issue in the years and decades that followed the end of the war – has left deep and lasting scars. Providing an account of these repercussions is also a form of commemoration. Here relatives have the opportunity to have their say.
A personal and personalised design
Design your poster using words in your own language as well as photos, letters and drawings, either by hand or on the computer. Detailed instructions can be downloaded and printed out using the link above. There you will find all the important information you need on designing your poster, the data we need from you, and the address for you to send your motif. Please read the instructions carefully so your poster can be printed out in good legible quality using the letterpress printing process.
How much does it cost to take part?
The production of a printing plate on which the poster motifs are archived and permanently available for reproduction on the grounds of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial costs around 120 EUR. We ask all relatives to bear these costs if possible. Please transfer this amount, stating the name of your family member detained at Neuengamme to the following donation account:
Freundeskreis KZ-Gedenkstätte Neuengamme e.V.
Hamburger Volksbank eG

Intended purpose: Donation Space to Remember, NAME
The Friends of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial Site (email email@example.com) will be happy to issue a donation receipt if you provide your postal address.
For all other plates we are seeking funding from sponsorships and donations. Please let us know if you would like to participate free of charge. It is important to us that all relatives and descendants of former prisoners of Neuengamme Concentration Camp can participate in the Space to Remember with a printing plate, regardless of their financial circumstances.
My text won’t fit on the poster!
